Goldwater Brewing Co has become one of those reliable stops we enjoy returning to whenever we’re in Phoenix.

Our first visit was in 2025 right at the start of spring, and after that stop it earned a spot on the list for reliable locations for good beer. When we made our way back through Scottsdale again in January, 2026, it was an easy decision to swing back in.

Goldwater is a family-owned brewery founded by the Goldwater family, who decided they wanted to create a craft brewery in Arizona while staying connected to the community. Since opening, they’ve expanded to include 3 additional locations across the Phoenix area - Longbow, Crossings and Gilbert, which has helped establish themselves as a well-known name in Arizona’s brewery scene.

The Scottsdale location sits right in the middle of one of the city’s popular areas - Old Town Scottsdale, making it a great place to stop during a day of wandering the streets.

What's On Tap?

Goldwater has house beers on tap ranging from hoppy IPAs as well as darker releases and sours. The sours have been okay. The option back in 2025 had the better sour, in my opinion, the standout that caught my attention was:

Pretty Girls Like Sours, a 5% ABV Fruited Sour

It combined the flavors of strawberry, raspberry, and pink guava, that gave it a bright fruity sour with just the right amount of tart. It was perfectly refreshing, a great option whether you're a longtime sour fan or just starting to check out the style. The berry and guava combination is a juicy flavor profile that works especially well on a sunny Arizona afternoon.

Pint of light beer and a sour

Goldwater has consistently had at least one sour option but they rotate through the tap list, so it’s worth checking what’s currently available before you stop in.

With a broad range of styles on tap, it’s easy for everyone in your group to find something they’ll enjoy.

Food Finds

Goldwater doesn’t have a full kitchen at the Scottsdale location, but they regularly have food trucks. Because of the Old Town Scottsdale location, there are also plenty of nearby restaurants if you’re planning to make an afternoon of exploring the area.

The Vibe Inside & Out

One of the best features of this location is the large outdoor shared beer garden space.

During the warmer months, the patio really becomes the heart of the brewery. There’s plenty of seating spread across the outdoor area, along with an outside bar, which makes it easy to grab another drink without heading back inside.

The layout and location makes it an ideal place to spend a sunny Arizona afternoon. Between the patio seating, food trucks, and events, and busy area it’s easy to see how the space fills up during busier months.

When the weather is nice, which is often in Arizona, it’s the kind of spot where you can easily lose track of time.

Dog Friendly Details:

Dogs are welcome on the outdoor patio, but not inside, though this is a place you're most likely to sit outside anyway. There's not much space inside, and who doesn't want to be outdoors in Arizona!?

To-Go selection

Goldwater Brewing Co is a nice place to relax for a while during a Scottsdale brewery tour or when being a tourist checking out Old Town Scottsdale.

Between the rotating sour options, the huge beer garden patio, and the lineup of food trucks and nearby food joints, it’s an easy place to spend a laid-back afternoon enjoying Arizona sunshine.

And since this was already my second visit, there’s a good chance it won’t be the last.
