From the moment you walk in, the vibe at Outer Range says “grab a pint and stay awhile.” The taproom is full of rustic lodge energy with a mix of more modern design, their wood beams, open spaces, and tons of natural light you can only get at 9,000 feet.
We wanted to grab a spot on the upstairs patio, where the mountains but it was probably the most sought after seating area in the place, so we settled for the main level patio. Outer Range isn’t just about beer. As with most of the breweries we visited on this Colorado brewery tour, this one highlights everything that makes Colorado so awesome: the mountain peaks, the friendly people, and the passion behind every craft brew.
WHAT'S ON TAP?

I started with Lake Days, a fruited sour that nails balance without going too crazy. It's a mix of strawberry, raspberry, lemon, and lime, giving it a little punch, and just tart enough to wake up your taste buds. It was like sunshine in a glass, especially when you’re sitting on a patio with the mountains in the background.

Outer Range’s tap lineup changes often, but it’s always got a few of their signature styles on hand - hazy IPAs and Belgian-inspired ales - they're what put them on the map back in 2016. The website’s current lineup shows a mix of hop-forward and small-batch releases, plus a few sours that would earn repeat visits from sour lovers.
Sour Score: 4/5

FOOD FINDS
Outer Range shares a space with Bird Craft, a permanent kitchen serving Nashville-style fried chicken and poke bowls. They say the crispy chicken has the perfect balance of flavor and heat, and that the bowls are fresh and exactly what you'd want after a day hiking the nearby trails.
If you come hungry, don’t wait to order, it gets busy fast. It’s perfect to pair with a flight or a pint (or two).
Food Score: 3/5 based on what we could see and smell

THE VIBE INSIDE & OUT
Outer Range is a definite must-visit. High ceilings, beautiful views, sliding glass doors and fresh mountain air, give it a vibe that’s both ski lodge and modern.
Upstairs, you’ll find a quieter nook-type area with perfect views of the Tenmile Range. It's ideal for sipping and cracking a good book or just simply reflecting on your latest adventure (or planning your next one). With occasional live music, you’ve got a place that has it all.
Vibe Score: 4.5/5

DOG FRIENDLY DETAILS:
Dogs and Colorado are a package deal, and Outer Range gets that. While pups can’t go inside, their outdoor patio is the perfect hangout for humans and pups. You’ll see everything from furry mutts to mountain rescue dogs lounging next to their hoomans. Cold beer, warm sun, wagging tails, it just works, and it''ll keep me coming back every time I'm in town.
Score: 5/5

Outer Range Brewing Co. feels like everything good about Colorado rolled into one stop - the mountains, craft beer, dogs, and that laid-back vibe that makes you wish you never had to leave. Their tagline, “Leave the Life Below,” says it all. You’re not just drinking a beer; you’re taking a deep breath of mountain air and remembering why you came here in the first place.
