I decided to make a solo walk to Devil’s Club Brewing before heading back to the cruise ship, and it turned out to be one of the best last-minute decisions ever. Founded in 2018 by three local friends, the brewery is located in a historic "Hellenthal Building", which was originally the Palace Theater way back in in 1916.
You’ll notice the preserved wood panels, vintage touches, and even a bank vault repurposed for brewing equipment as soon as you walk in. It’s a major hotspot in Juneau, and with its high praise for beer, atmosphere, and friendly staff, it’s easy to see why. I've had Minnesotan's comment on my shirt from here, so they're well known outside of Alaska!
WHAT'S ON TAP?

The Sword in the Stonefruit Peach Mango Sour was the highlight of this port. Fruity, and perfectly tart, just like I like them. It was so good I had to figure out a way to take some home - onto the boat and airplane.

This sour was a real standout, especially on a quick stop during a cruise. So fun to have a couple to relive the memory back home.

FOOD FINDS
Considering I was on my own, I didn’t take time to look at the food, though they do have a full menu. Had I known ahead of time, it could’ve been a great place to take a load off, have a bite and enjoy their brews. They have a full menu, and from the looks of it, some pretty tasty options: lots of apps to sandwiches and pizzas.

THE VIBE INSIDE & OUT
Fun, small-town Alaskan charm. I loved the light wood all around and all of the greenery that really brought the place to life. The place was busy when I walked in, so it clearly brings in a crowd - tourists and locals - and for good reason. I would’ve loved to have had the time to hang out there longer. If I’m ever back in Juneau, I will make this a stop for sure.
Vibe Score: 4/5

DOG FRIENDLY DETAILS:
Dogs are likely limited to the back entrance's patio area. While I didn’t see any pups, Alaska breweries tend to embrace four-legged friends, so it’s worth checking ahead. I was also in such a hurt to make sure I didn't miss the all aboard call that I could've easily missed them.
Score: 1/5

TAPPED IN TAKEAWAY

I wish I had more time to hang at Devil’s Club Brewing, but even a short visit left a great impression. Between the sour, setting, friendly atmosphere, and awesome merch, this brewery is a must-visit in Juneau. Sword in the Stonefruit has a permanent spot on my wall as a reminder of Alaska’s hidden brewery gem.
