Great location in Duluth, MN

Ursa Minor Brewing is a charming location in Duluth's Lincoln Park Craft District. Since opening in 2018, they've been offering small-batch brews and brick oven pizzas in a location that feels like your a fun friend's living room— exposed brick, cozy booths, and a dog-friendly patio. It's the kind of place where you can unwind, enjoy live music, even get some work done and savor their amazing drinks.

Drinks:

Ursa Minor boasts an impressive selection of beers, the bartender mentioned they keep18–22 options on tap at any given time. There's something for everyone—from IPAs to stouts. Apparently, their Equanimity Irish Red Ale won a gold medal at the 2023 World Beer Cup.

Let’s get to the good stuff—the sours. Shenaniberries, probably the best name and flavor combo I've had in a while. Full of berry goodness—raspberry, blueberry, even a small hint of cherry—it was tart and refreshing without being overly sweet. Honestly, this one might’ve been my favorite of the day. Be careful though, it goes down easy and it sits at a 9.2% ABV.

Mermaid Slurs was one of the other standouts for me. It’s a rotating fruited sour series, and this version had big tropical vibes—think mango, passionfruit, and a bit of pineapple. Bright, juicy, and just sour enough to keep things interesting. Definitely a sour you could hang with for more than one round. Again, be warned, it's a good one, and it's 9% ABV.

The third option (and kudos for having so many to choose from!) was Duluterweisse a lighter 4.2% ABV with a tasty mix of lemon, blueberry and cherry. This is their spin on a Berliner-style sour. It’s crisp, drier than many others, and slightly different. It would be a good option for anyone just trying out the world of sours—it did still have a bit of intrigue, but for me, of the three, this was my least favorite.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 – A diverse selection of sours - love when there are options.

Food:

Ursa Minor food menu

Ursa Minor's wood-fired pizzas are a highlight. Made from scratch, these pizzas have some interesting toppings like marinated kale, wild rice sausage, and house-pickled red onions. They say the Wise Yker, with hot sausage and smoked pork loin, is a must-try for meat lovers. We went standard pepperoni...I know...BORING! It was tasty though!

If pizza isn't your thing, they also serve paninis, soft pretzels with beer cheese, and other snacks. And if you just want dessert—they have ice cream from the local Love Creamery.

Rating: 4.5/5 – Great food that makes it more than just a brewery.

Dog Friendliness:

The covered patio is not only huge but also welcoming to the pups. It's a great spot to relax with your friend, enjoy a pint, and maybe sneak them a crust or two from your pizza. It was a little too chilly for us to check out the patio on this trip, but there were some locals braving the temps with their 4-legged friends.

Rating: 3/5 – A pet-friendly outside atmosphere that adds to the laid-back vibe.

Families will find a kid-friendly corner, a unique feature, making it a spot for all ages. Whether you're catching up with friends or enjoying a family outing, Ursa Minor is a comfortable and engaging place to stop.
