Details & Availability

Urban Growler’s Sour Puss series has been around for quite a while and has great credibility, and now this Mango Apricot finally made its way into my fridge—and I'm glad it did.

Crack open the can and that fruit hits you fast. Sweet mango jumps out, followed by by subtle apricot vibes. The color’s looks like sunshine, bright and golden, and it just looks like something you’d sip on a summer patio somewhere in the great lakes region.

ABV 5.6%

You can find it at Total Wine, Surdyk's, Fridley Liquor, and some other smaller retailers in the Minneapolis area. They also have it available at bars like Stone Arch Craft in St. Paul on occasion.

Taste-Test

Look & Aroma:

A pinkish red color that is a bit creamy with a bit of soft head, but it fades quickly. The aroma is that of a cherry cobbler straight out of the oven with the perfect amount of cinnamon and a touch of vanilla.

Drinkability:

It is one you'll want to order another (or two), and it never feels like work to finish. The fruit gives it awesome flavor, while the subtle sour keeps it perfect. This would be killer in the cooler at a BBQ or patio hang with friends—not too weird for sour newbies, but flavorful enough to keep the craft crowd happy.

Flavor Profile:

Sour Puss Mango Apricot is a blend of mango and apricot (surprise!), for a burst of fruit with a hint of sour. The sourness is mild—consider it more of a gentle pucker than a bold one—making it super balanced. A light wheat base adds a little bit of creaminess without making it too heavy, and the finish provides the perfect amount of lingering fruit without a funky aftertaste.

Purchase Worthy:

Would definitely buy again. It's a great summertime flavor, perfect for afternoons on the boat or an evening by the fire!

Final Verdict

Urban Growler's Sour Puss gets a lot of love for this one as it's fun, simple, and totally chug-worthy. If you’re new to the sour scene, this is a safe starting point. And if you're already on board with fruited sours? This one deserves a spot in your fridge on a relatively consistent basis.
