Fat Pants Brewing Co. isn’t a new brewery option for me—but this time it does hit a bit differently. Last time I was here was pre-blog, pre-sours, and pre-interest in anything beyond ciders and seltzers. So,I had to come back and check it out with an updated sense of what I like and a new perspective.
Tucked into Eden Prairie, Fat Pants isn’t exactly convenient if you’re coming from the north metro like me, but it’s also not too far out of the way. And to be honest—the Pub Pass BOGO makes any stop worth the extra miles. Can’t go wrong with a two-for-one when brewery-touring.
Drinks:

I, of course, opted for the sour of the moment, which was “Bad Attitude Sour Ale - Pomegranate.” They appear to keep the “Bad Attitude” name for their sours and just switch out the featured fruit now and then. I was okay with this one. The pomegranate had a slight tartness to it, with a juicy pomegranate balance I liked. Not too sweet, but not overly off the wall either—a perfect middle ground. It’s one I’d order again, especially since pomegranate isn’t a flavor you see all the time.
I also appreciate the idea that they have 2 different sizes, so you can order either a 10 oz or 16 oz pour. Love that. Sometimes you just want a taste, not a full pint, especially if you're doing a quick stop or hoping to sample a few different flavors.

While I was in my usual sour mode, my husband tried one called Tres Amigos, a “spicy” Mexican pale ale. Keyword: spicy. It wasn’t quite what he expected—and definitely was more peppery than expected—but the description did warn him. Moral of the story: read the tap list carefully or ask the bartender before you order.
The beer list was pretty diverse—IPAs, stouts, lagers, and a blue raspberry seltzer.
They serve a handful of cocktails and wines, so you’re not stuck if beer isn’t your thing. If you’re not into alcohol at all, there’s a craft soda on tap too (perfect if you’ve got non-drinkers or kids with you). Honestly, it’s a well-rounded selection - variety is always a bonus in my book.

Food:

The food setup is fun, and smart for Minnesota—Fat Pants has an indoor “food truck” kitchen, which keeps things fun and unique but still available year-round. You order and pick up your food right inside, no worry about braving our unpredictable weather. The menu is very sporty-bar-ish: burgers, wings, flatbreads, loaded fries. The kind of stuff that goes great with a refreshing pint.
We didn’t plan to eat this time—had lunch with the kids before coming —but they did have a special “Mom’s Eat Free” so we ordered a small appetizer, it was quite tasty if I do say so myself. All of the food I saw coming out looked pretty good. They honored mothers well - complete with $5 bloodies and screwdrivers, and $11 mimosas. Not too shabby.
During the week they have a number of happy hour specials, too, so if you’re local or work nearby, there’s an extra incentive to stop in and try it out.

Dog Friendliness:
No pups with us this round—it was a 90-degree day, and having them sweat-it-out in the sun on a patio just didn’t sound like a good idea for them (or us). From what I could see, dogs aren’t allowed indoors, I’d assume they aren’t because of the full menu setup, and the patio didn’t show any clear dog-friendly signs either. We didn’t end up sitting outside—it was packed and the only open table was full sun—but I’d guess it’s more of a humans-only type patio.
Perhaps it's not completely fair, since we don't know for sure, but no indication of dog acceptance get a fat zero for me...at least for now until I find out otherwise.

Atmosphere:

Fat Pants has a pretty large, fun space. One area, that we chose to sit in, feels like a cozy coffee shop, with leather couches and a big low table—very “grab a deck of cards” or “get some work-done” type vibe. Around the corner, the feel shifts to sports bar with a massive screen, which at the time was replaying last night’s Timberwolves win.

It’s a great balance: whether you’re in the mood to socialize, watch the game, or find a quiet corner to relax, you’ve got plenty of options. They even had coloring pages for the kids and a decent variety of table games available, so it’s definitely a family-friendly environment.

On the side opposite the big screen, there is a private event space, and from what I saw, it would be great for gatherings, parties, or work events. On this visit, they were hosting a Mother’s Day vendor market, and the place. A few people were indulging in cupcakes from one of the booths, which felt like a nice little bonus for the occasion.

A solid 4/5 for this one!

Merch & More:
For a compact merchandizing space, the merch corner was pretty stacked. I’ve always liked Fat Pants’ logo, and they’ve really found fun ways to promote it —tons of t-shirt designs, beanies, a mechanic-style button-down and a warm, plaid flannel. It’s the kind of stuff that actually makes you want to rep the brand, not just pick up a souvenir.

Overall:
Fat Pants isn’t overly crazy—but it is definitely comfortable, casual, and a great place to spend some time with good company. It’s the kind of spot you can go to for a solid beer list, decent food, and a place to get some work done or just hang out for a bit. If you’re in Eden Prairie—or just driving through—it’s one of the few local craft brewery options, and it’s worth a visit, for sure.
If they keep the Bad Attitude series going, I’ll be back for more sour reviews at some point! I can't give them much more than a 3.5 unfortunately, the dog thing really is a bummer for me!
